Reports — AI Report Agent & Scheduled Reports#

Reports are AI-generated HTML emails built from your actual cost data, with charts, executive summaries, and detailed findings written in plain language. In v1.0.0, reports are created through the AI Report Agent — a conversational experience embedded in the Reports section where you describe what you need and the AI builds a live HTML preview. When you are satisfied with the design, you save it and configure the schedule and recipients manually. Reports can be delivered on any schedule you define (full crontab syntax supported) or generated on demand.

Navigate: left navigation → FinOps → Monitor → Reports.

Creating a report#

Changed in version 1.0.0: Report types (Discovery, Advisory, Finances) have been removed. Report content is now defined through an AI design session where you describe what you want and the AI builds a live HTML preview. See AI-Powered Reports for the full design workflow.

  1. Click “+ New Report” — the AI design session opens

  2. Describe what you want the report to look like; the AI generates a live HTML preview in real time

  3. Iterate until you are happy, then click Save Report

  4. In the save dialog, set:

    • Name (3–64 characters; letters, numbers, spaces, and hyphens)

    • Data Window — the period of cloud cost data the report will cover:

  1. Set the Schedule — when the report is generated and delivered:

    Use the quick presets (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly) or click Custom to define an exact cron expression. The schedule picker prevents sub-daily frequencies; reports can be sent at most once per day.

    Times are shown in your local timezone and stored as UTC.

  2. Add Recipients — comma-separated email addresses; each is validated

  3. Click Save

The report generates and is emailed on the next scheduled run.

Note

The Data Window and the Schedule are independent. For example, you can send a Monthly report (covering the previous calendar month) every Monday, or a Weekly report every day. Choose the combination that makes sense for your audience.

On-demand generation#

Any saved report configuration can be triggered immediately:

  1. Find the report in the list

  2. Click the Run now button (play icon on the report card)

  3. Optionally override the date range with custom start/end dates

  4. Click Generate — generation takes approximately 30–60 seconds

A toast notification confirms delivery to all configured recipients.

Report language#

When a report is generated through the CMP Agent, the email body is written in the language of the query used to request it.

The Run now button requires at least Read permission.

Editing and deleting a report#

  • Edit: click the pencil icon on the report card → change name, schedule, recipients, or data window → Save

  • Redesign: click Redesign from the action menu → re-opens the AI design session with the saved template pre-loaded → iterate and save

  • Delete: click the trash icon → confirm. The configuration is removed; previously delivered reports are not recalled.

Tip

After editing, the schedule chip on the report card shows the next delivery time in a human-readable form (e.g. “Every Monday at 08:00”). Hover it for confirmation.
